The budget was too much...
Deadline reports that Legendary Pictures has pulled the plug on their planned film version of Paradise Lost. The Milton adaptation was to be directed by Alex Proyas and star Bradley Cooper, Casey Affleck, Djimon Hounsou, Benjamin Walker, Camilla Belle and Diego Boneta.
The problem appears to have been the visual effects, which caused the budget to go way too high. The budget is the reason for the film's production halting last year.
